Unit Stats - Approx 25 man roster / Averages 10 to 12 rifles at most events & we usually can build a  company around them by adding smaller Mess size units. / mainstream organization but leans heavily toward Campaigner / 1 of the old guard member units of the U.S. Muddy River Battalion / has a handful of civilian members / Monthly meetings / Located out of Sioux Falls South Dakota region with members in and around / These guys portray the 13th U.S. because right after the Civil War ended the original 13th U.S. was sent to the Sioux Falls area and served in that area.

UNIT BIO - The recreated 13th U.S. was formed in 1988 and participated in events during the 1989 centennial celebration of South Dakota. The unit is based out of the Sioux Falls area. The 13th US, Company D has participated in battle reenactments and living histories across the United States. We take our name from company D of the 13th US that came to the site of Sioux Falls in June of 1866 to station Fort Dakota, a frontier military post that operated from 1865-1869. The original 13th was raised at Jefferson Barracks in 1861 and served throughout the Civil War in the western theater. During the siege of Vicksburg, the regiment earned its nickname "First at Vicksburg" after being the only Union regiment to place their colors on the Confederate works during the May 1863 assault.  Always Looking for new Recruits and anyone interested in Living History, by all means, please contact us we are an active organization.
